A sweet story

The Sweet Spoon Bakery isn't your average dessert experience. Our jars deliver two desserts in one, with deliberately layered flavors and textures that make every bite hit differently. Our signature frosting is smooth, creamy, and perfectly balanced, never overpowering. We make everything from scratch, including our chocolate and caramel sauces, using clean ingredients with no soy, no artificial flavors, and no dyes. Everything is free from most major allergens and with select gluten-free options available, we've built something everyone can enjoy without cutting corners on quality, flavor, or indulgence. Oh, and everything is completely plant-based. Most people can't even tell and that's exactly the point.

Meet Roland

Hello. My name is Roland and I'm the founder and co-owner of The Sweet Spoon Bakery. I'm married to my amazing wife and co-owner, Nia, and together we have a son and lead test taster, Lukas. We reside in the amazing city of Charlotte, NC.


My passion for baking started in my mom's kitchen back when I was a teenager. My sweet tooth fueled me to create amazing desserts that became the highlight of every meal, including Thanksgiving and Christmas. That's a major accomplishment in a black family because there are consequences for experimenting during the holidays (if you know you know lol). Although I'm not formally trained, my years of experience and the empty plates spoke for themselves, and ultimately led me to start my own bakery.

 

The passing of my father at a young age due to health issues made me health-conscious. But giving up great desserts was never an option. I began reimagining what truly indulgent desserts could look like without the ingredients that weigh you down. My goal was simple, create desserts everyone could enjoy, with a little less guilt and none of the worry. The result is dessert jars that speak for themselves and keep people coming back.
